Welcome to Vinjana Library. Your privacy is of critical importance to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, process, and protect your personal data when you use our web portal and mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

To provide a functional and seamless library management experience, we collect the following types of information:

• Account Information: When you register, we collect your chosen username and a securely hashed password. You may optionally provide an email address and phone number for profile completion and communication.
• Profile Media: If you upload a profile picture (avatar), we process and store this image.
• Activity Data: We log data regarding your interactions with the library, including book borrow requests, reading history, missing book requests, and book donation submissions.
• System & Device Permissions: If you use our Android application, the app may request Local Storage Permissions. This is strictly utilized to allow you to download generated PDFs, documents, and other library media directly to your device.

2. How We Use Your Information

The information we collect is used exclusively for the operational needs of the Vinjana Library, including:

• Authenticating your account and maintaining secure sessions.
• Managing digital book borrowing, returns, and subscription statuses.
• Displaying your basic profile details (Name/Avatar) to authorized committee members and on active library logs.
• Contacting you regarding membership expiry, library events, or account notices.

3. Third-Party Services

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal identification information to others. However, we utilize select third-party services to ensure portal stability:

• Image Hosting (ImgBB): Any images you upload (avatars, event covers, book covers) are securely processed through the ImgBB API for optimized content delivery.
• WhatsApp Integration: The portal provides links to contact library administrators via WhatsApp. Clicking these links will transfer you to WhatsApp, which is governed by Meta's respective privacy policies.

4. Data Security

We adopt appropriate data collection, storage, and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction of your personal information. Passwords are mathematically hashed and never stored in plain text.

5. Your Data Rights & Deletion

You have full control over your personal data. Within your Profile Settings, you have the ability to:

• Update or correct your email, phone number, and avatar at any time.
• Change your account password securely.
• Permanently Delete Your Account: You may instantly and permanently erase your user account using the "Danger Zone" account deletion feature. This action revokes all active borrow requests and destroys your system access.

6. System Administrators & Committee

Designated Committee Members, Moderators, and Administrators have access to view subscriber lists, borrow requests, and basic contact information to facilitate real-world library operations. System Administrators maintain an internal audit log of system actions to prevent abuse and ensure security.
